Experience vintage soul as it was meant to be heard... on vinyl!

Tamla Motown - Classic and Northern Soul - Jazz Funk Mastercuts - Disco - Salsoul - Reggae

Once it was all about going out on a Saturday night, when a mohair suit was the only order of the day. As you left to go out to party all your worldly possessions were under your arm. Those possessions consisted of a stack of 7” vinyl Tamla Motown and sweet soul music.

Forty-five revolutions per minute were, are, and will only ever be the way pop music should be listened to. It’s not gone! It’s still here for many of us and it’s making a resurgence with both those who know and those who wish to discover.

Our collections were cherished, nurtured and kept and are still as important as life itself. There are still rivers to cross.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC!! COMBINING VINYL & VINTAGE EQUIPMENT...

The quest to make the sound of Street Sounds Vinyl "vinyl authentic" has been a mission accomplished. All the equipment has been sourced and renovated and is vintage; the Linear Concorde twin deck unit is one of the best made of the era and survives despite thousands of hours of playing and being carting from venue to venue.

ABOUT ME

Does anybody still go to Camber Sands on holiday as I did. Once you could camp on the beach, light a fire, get your little battery record player out and have a good time.

Listening to the great visionary, Tony Hall on Radio Luxembourg, Camber is where my love of Soul Music started. Then DJ’s had fifteen-minute slots. And, in one of those slots he played Sam Cooke’s Another Saturday Night.  Sam Cooke may have made better records but I’d never heard the like of it before. There are moments in everybody’s life that are absolutely significant; this was one of them…..

From sand in my shoes to obsession in just two minutes; It was then that I started to collect and DJ, which, in turn, has fitted and started over the years. However, the obsession has never, ever waned over the many years in between. You see it’s in the rhythm and in particular, the voice. As Mike Raven said about Otis Redding’s “I’ve been loving you too long”, it’s probably the most soulful song ever sung, but it’s the voice not the song.

Street Sounds Vinyl is back and it’s looking to gather in those who already know and some new disciples. We don’t walk on water but the rhythm makes us feel as if we can.

THE EQUIPMENT I USE AND WHY VINTAGE

WE PLAY REGULARLY AT VENUES IN KENT, SUSSEX, SURREY AND HAMPSHIRE GET IN TOUCH TODAY TO MAKE YOUR EVENT THE ONE YOUR GUESTS WILL REMEMBER 'WE DANCED ALL NIGHT!' JUST FILL IN THE CONTACT FORM BELOW AND WE'LL GET RIGHT BACK TO YOU.

The Shure cartridges and Matamp speaker boxes, which contain Celestion units, give a brilliant analogue sound. A sound that is not achievable on CD or MP3. The sound is as the mixing engineer and the producer heard it in the studio. That was important to them then as it is to Street Sounds Vinyl now,

Amplification and Graphic Equaliser are vintage Peavey.
